| 1.Discussions |
Based on technical drawings of the press-made part
the die is simulated with high precision.
Simulations are performed repeatedly to ensure
that no press flaws occur, such as cracks or wrinkles.
Uchida works with parts manufactures from the design phase
to make dies of superior quality and precision. |

The product data are then entered into Uchida's CAD system.
The results are carefully examined to decide on the most efficient method
for fabricating high-precision dies while taking into consideration the
characteristics of the steel material used.
Based on this examination,
a process chart is produced and submitted to the customer. |

| 3.Design |
The designing of dies then starts.
To produce a part with complicated curved surfaces,
tow or more pressing operations are usually required.
A pair of dies is needed for each pressing operation.
After the die design is complated, the date for the die production are produced. |

| 4.Processing |
During the die design stage, the necessary materials are ordered.
The design data are transferred to the machining center,
and the primary and secondary processing operations
are automatically performed. |

| 5.Finishing |
After machining, veteran engineers fine tune each die to ensure high precision. |

| 6.Quality Control |
The finished dies are tested by Uchida's own press to assure compliance
with the quality requirements.
Should a problem arise, the engineers return to the processing and finishing stages,
or even back to the design stage, and repeat the entire process to achieve the
highest possible die quality. |

| 7.Delivery |
The delivered dies are installed in the customer's production line and tested again.
Since thorough testing has been conducted in-house,
the dies need only fine tuning at this point.
Uchida engineers also provide technical guidance. |

| 8.Maintenance |
After the dies are delivered,Uchida continues to provide technical support
until the first vehicle rolls off the line.
Every time new dies are installed to produce a new model,
Uchida engineers visit the site, whether it is in Japan or overseas,
to offer technical support. |
